Lakeview
|
| |
Lakeview -- with Lake Michigan running along its east end -- is aptly named. Legend tells us it was named for the Lakeview Hotel, a hotel built in 1853 in the “country” just 4 miles north of downtown Chicago.
Lakeview is one of the city’s most livable and walkable areas. It is home to many smaller neighborhoods, including Lakeshore East, West Lakeview, Roscoe Village, Graceland West, Southeast Ravenswood, Belmont Harbor and Wrigleyville, home of the Chicago Cubs. Lakeview residents enjoy the charm and beauty of tree-lined streets and Lake Michigan, just minutes from the bustle of downtown Chicago, a short commute on Lake Shore Drive.

Northwest of Lakeview, between Ravenswood Avenue and the Chicago River, and Montrose and Bryn Mawr avenues, lies a group of neighborhoods called Ravenswood. It's a beautiful area with tree-lined streets and parks, and its own rapid-transit system that connects to the Loop. The Ravenswood community includes Ravenswood Gardens, Budlong Woods, Bowmanville, Ravenswood Manor and parts of Lincoln Square.

East Rogers Park
|
| |
A sprawling community in the northernmost section of Chicago, Rogers Park is the only Chicago community with direct access to Lake Michigan. In fact, many of its buildings have been constructed right next to the beach and offer spectacular views.
Rogers Park's borders are from Devon on the south; the town of Evanston on the north, Western on the west and Lake Michigan on the east.

Edgewater
|
| |
Edgewater is a sprawling area with almost suburban amenities, such as wider streets, spacious yards and friendly neighbors. It is bounded by Lake Michigan, Foster, Ravenswood and Devon. The name Edgewater originated with developer J.L.Cochran, who wanted to create a small town in 1880. By 1910, the name Edgewater was being used through the area. Today, Edgewater is composed of many lovely neighborhoods, including Andersonville.
